First for News - Investigatory Journalism
Exposing the corrupt, holding the unaccountable to account and ensuring the truth be told

Investigatory journalism and freedom of the press is essential for democracy. To protect our rights, we must understand our rights and we must have means of holding those in power to account.

A 2002 study concluded “that investigative journalism has all but disappeared from the commercial airwaves“, a finding consistent with the conflicts of interest that arise between the revenue sources for the media conglomerates, the corporations that advertise. It should not do, for quality journalism is what should attract quality readership, but the controlled mainstreams don’t work that way, we do.

Suppression of information, facts and the truth is a key ingredient for corruption, exposure is the cure.

The United Nations’ 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference, and to seek, receive, and impart information and ideas through any media regardless of frontiers”

British media expert, Hugo de Burgh summed up the work we do perfectly:

An investigative journalist is a man or woman whose profession is to discover the truth and to identify lapses from it in whatever media may be available. The act of doing this generally is called investigative journalism and is distinct from apparently similar work done by police, lawyers, auditors, and regulatory bodies in that it is not limited as to target, not legally founded and closely connected to publicity”.
